Investment Portfolio Managers

Robert W. Phelps, CFA

Mr. Phelps, a Principal of the firm and financial-market professional since 1986, provides portfolio management, research and client service.  He has developed proprietary measures for determining the optimal asset allocation for individuals, and specializes in implementing the resulting strategy for each client.

Prior to co-founding Oarsman Capital, Bob was Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Baird Investment Management (Robert W. Baird & Co.’s asset management arm) and Principal and Portfolio Manager with Marietta Investment Partners, LLC.  Before joining Baird, Bob spent seven years as an officer of the Kingsley State Bank, Kingsley, Iowa.  He is on the Board of Directors of the Kingsley State Bank and the Milwaukee Athletic Club.

Bob received his MBA degree from the University of Iowa and BA degree in Business Administration from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa.  Mr. Phelps was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997.

 

Alan Purintun, CFA

Mr. Purintun is a Principal of the firm and has managed investment portfolios for high-net-worth individuals and institutions since 1994. Mr. Purintun provides portfolio management, research and client service.  As the firm’s Director of Research, he specializes in equity security valuation and analysis of global macro-economic and financial-market developments.

Prior to co-founding Oarsman Capital, Alan was First Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Baird Investment Management (Robert W. Baird & Co.’s asset management arm) and Principal and Portfolio Manager with Marietta Investment Partners, LLC.  Before joining Baird, Alan spent six years as an intelligence officer with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C.

Alan received his MBA degree, with honors, from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College; he also holds a BA degree, magna cum laude, in history from Yale University.  Mr. Purintun was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997.

 

Research Analyst

Benjamin J. Kebbekus

Mr. Kebbekus, Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager, specializes in applying comprehensive research analysis to the portfolio management process.  Mr. Kebbekus has extensive experience performing detailed analytical work on both private and publicly traded securities.

Prior to joining Oarsman Capital in 2004, Ben developed his analytical skills in the private equity market as an analyst with Cedar Creek Partners, Milwaukee.  Prior to Cedar Creek Partners, Ben was a Financial Advisor with UBS.

Ben holds BA and MBA degrees in Business Administration-Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is currently working toward completion of the requirements for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

 

Investment Advisor

Brent V. Schneider, CFP

Mr. Schneider, Investment Advisor, specializes in developing investment strategies for individual and institutional retirement programs.  He has been an investment professional since 1991.  Mr. Schneider manages the firm’s Madison, Wisconsin office.

Before joining Oarsman Capital in 2004, Brent managed his own financial planning firm founded in 1991.  Prior to that, Brent spent five years working with Fortune 500 companies in the financial and construction industries.

Brent holds a BA degree in Business Administration from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa.  Mr. Schneider was awarded the Certified Financial Planner designation from the College of Financial Planning in 1997.

 

Nackers Division

Thomas H. Nackers

Tom Nackers has over 27 years of investment experience.  Prior to joining Oarsman Capital, Tom managed Investment Designers, Inc, a financial planning firm he co-founded with his brother, Bud Nackers.  He also founded Nackers & Associates, an investment advisory firm that is now a division of Oarsman Capital.  Tom continues to manage the Nackers Division with offices in Appleton and Brookfield, Wisconsin.  Mr. Nackers has extensive expertise in utilizing option strategies to reduce risk and increase income within a portfolio.

Mr. Nackers holds an MS in Business Management and a BS in Business Education from University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.  He is a Certified Financial Planner.

Gerald W. Nackers, AAMS

Gerald “Bud” Nackers has nearly 20 years of investment experience.  Prior to joining Oarsman Capital, Bud established the Appleton office of Nackers & Associates (now a division of Oarsman Capital).  Bud also co-founded Investment Designers with his brother, Tom.  Bud began his investment career with the Prudential Insurance Company in 1989.  Mr. Nackers specializes in financial planning and developing optimal investment structures for Corporate Retirement Plans.

Mr. Nackers is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist.  He manages the Appleton office of Nackers & Associates, a division of Oarsman Capital.
